EDM or Electronic Document Management is a software application that enables the management of these documents throughout their life cycle: acquisition, creation, processing, storage and distribution.



What is the purpose of EDM?

An EDM helps an organisation to manage a document from its creation to its archiving through its use. With an EDM you can consult, classify, search and share documents. Thanks to your EDM your company documents are in a secure environment and always available.

It can integrate tools that simplify document management: online editing, creation of a blank document or one based on a template, sharing by link, version management, traceability of actions made to the document, process automation, classification plan, character recognition (OCR), metadata management, fine search, etc.

What is the difference between EDM and Drive?

A drive refers to a disk (Hard Drive, USB flash drive). The purpose of a drive is to store and share data. An EDM goes much further by controlling access rights, complex metadata, workflow, etc.

It should be pointed out that drives were designed for individuals and do not always take into account the specific needs of organisations.
